KCSD and the Kershaw County Library are teaming up for summer reading fun inspired by The Wild Robot by Peter Brown.

πŸ“š Middle School: Strive for 5!
πŸ“š High School: Read 3!

Students can complete their reading challenge, bring their completed log to the Kershaw County Public Library for even more summer reading adventures and a chance to win a copy of The Wild Robot, then return their log to school in August for a reading reward from their school!

The Kershaw County Public Library is also offering special summer programs for all ages, including great elementary, middle, and teen events.

We are thrilled to partner with Sandhills Medical this summer to bring quality healthcare directly to our community, right alongside our Summer Meals program! While you're stopping by to grab summer meals, you can also take care of your family’s healthcare needs.

2026 Summer Meal Program Schedule 🍽️

Also, don't forget, in partnership with the United Way of Kershaw County, our Summer Meals program will continue to run from June 1 through July 17, 2026, Monday – Thursday each week (all locations will be closed on Thursday, July 2.)

Children aged 18 and under (who are not enrolled in another program) may eat directly in the school cafeterias during the following daily mealtimes:

All this week, Response to Active Intruder training is taking place at Jackson School.
Kershaw County School District School Resource Officers, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office, and officers from the Town of Elgin are participating in this important safety training.

KCSD and United Way of Kershaw County are making sure children have access to free, nutritious meals this summer β€” and WACH FOX stopped by Camden High School to share the story!

The 2026 Summer Meal Program is off to a strong start, with hundreds of children served on the first day and plans to provide more than 50,000 meals across Kershaw County this summer. We are grateful for our cafeteria teams, United Way partners, and community organizations helping feed children while school is out.
