Free Fishing Day gives everyone the chance to enjoy recreational fishing in public waters across the state. A fishing license will not be required to fish at an Alabama State Park on this day, but regular gate entry, boat, and pier fees will still apply where required.

As we continue our Tour Tuesday highlights, we’re excited to spotlight one of the special events that opens Tour of Homes Weekend - our Friday evening guest speaker, Charlie Hurt.

Charlie Hurt is an award-winning journalist and political commentator who serves as Opinion Editor of The Washington Times, is a Fox News contributor, and co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend. On Friday, March 27, he will delve into the stories behind the men and ideas that shaped early America, setting the tone for a meaningful weekend devoted to history and heritage. 🇺🇸

As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, this year’s Wilcox Historical Society Tour of Homes is about more than opening beautiful historic houses - it’s a celebration of the enduring stories that connect Historic Furman and Wilcox County to the broader American story.

🦫If you camp at Roland Cooper State Park, you’re likely to hear or even see beavers during your stay! In the evenings, you may notice the sound of their tails slapping the water, or spot them swimming as they search for aquatic plants to eat. Beavers are the largest rodents in North America, easily recognized by their broad, scaly tails and prominent front teeth. They can weigh up to 80 pounds and are impressive swimmers, capable of holding their breath underwater for up to 15 minutes!
