Good roads don't happen by accident. They require planning, accountability, and smart use of taxpayer dollars.

I believe Ouachita County should take a data-driven approach to managing and maintaining our road system.

By using modern road asset management tools, we can better assess road conditions, prioritize repairs, plan future improvements, and make informed budgeting decisions.

My goal is not just to fix today's problems, but to build a long-term strategy that helps us maintain safer, stronger roads for years to come.

The people of Ouachita County deserve leadership that plans ahead, uses resources wisely, and focuses on practical solutions.

Strong roads. Smart planning. A stronger Ouachita County.

I believe the people who serve Ouachita County every day deserve a fair and objective review of county compensation.

As County Judge, I would support an independent assessment to evaluate positions, compare them with similar-sized counties and communities, and develop a responsible plan that works within our budget.

My goal is simple: make decisions based on facts, treat employees fairly, be responsible with taxpayer dollars, and build a stronger county for the future.

Good data. Strong planning. Better decisions for Ouachita County.

Real leadership is not about words — it is about vision, service, and the willingness to do the work that moves a county forward.

The Roadside Roots Program is one example of how small, practical ideas can create long-term benefits for Ouachita County through conservation, community involvement, and smarter use of resources.

I believe character is shown through actions, and I will continue working toward solutions that strengthen our county for future generations.

This Memorial Day, I pause to remember the men and women who gave everything in service to our country.

As a veteran, this day has always meant more than a long weekend or a ceremony. It is a time to remember brothers and sisters in uniform who never made it home to their families. Men and women whose sacrifice secured the freedoms we often take for granted.

Some names and faces stay with you forever.

I ask everyone to take a moment to honor those who paid the ultimate price for this nation.

Pray for the families who carry that loss every day, and never forget that freedom has never been free.

We remember them.

We honor them and we will never let their sacrifice be forgotten.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms, grandmothers, and mother figures in Ouachita County.

The love, strength, patience, and sacrifices you make every day help shape our families and our communities in ways that often go unseen.

I’m especially grateful for Tammy and the amazing mother she is to our family.

Today was a great reminder of what makes Ouachita County such a special place to call home.

This morning started with fellowship at the local VFW, spending time with veterans whose service and sacrifice helped shape our communities and our country.

Later, Tammy and I attended the grand opening of the new East Camden ADLEST Training Center. Seeing the commitment being made to training, preparedness, and public safety was truly impressive. Supporting the men and women who serve and protect our communities will always matter.

Tonight, we’re proud to support another great local tradition at the Boomtown Rodeo as sponsors alongside so many others who continue investing in our community.

Strong communities are built by people who show up, serve others, and stay involved — and Ouachita County is full of those people.

On May 5th at 6:30pm our Ouachita County Quorum Court (QC) met to discuss county business for the month of May.
We covered the following items:

1.) New Ordinance to appropriate funds for the 911 fund, 911 budget and other purposes. It was voted unanimously to pass by all Justic of the peace (JP) officials present. The $35,000.00 dollars will be reimbursed to the county after the installation from the State of Arkansas. The additional 911 station will increase the capabilities of the 911 services during high call volume times and will have no additional cost to the county.

2.) A resolution adopting the Ouachita County Hazard Mitigation Plan for the county school district of Ouachita County Arkansas. This plan has been in work for over 6 years. Its approval will allow for additional aid for the county during major catastrophic events.

Audience Participation:
1.) A concerned citizen approached the QC to discuss the roads behind the y-mart and the current wash out conditions.

2.) Mr. Silliman discussed the OPED updates and new business prospects for the future economic growth of Ouachita County. New manufacturing prospect and housing progress.

3.) Mrs. Simpson the Ouachita County Family and Consumer Science agent asked the QC to approve a proclamation to have the month of May approved as the Extension Homemaker month. It was signed by Judge McAdoo.

4.) Keri Weatherford the Ouachita County Extension office agent provided the QC with a list of the County events that will be occurring over the coming months leading into summer.

New business items covered:
1.) N/A.

Unfinished Business items covered:
1.) Judge McAdoo stated the Stephens Clinic deed options. The facility has been purchased by the doctor who operates the facility for $20,000. There are 3 deeds to the property. Two of the deeds are owned by the OCMC and 1 is owned by Ouachita County. OCMC received the $20,000. The JPs discuss options for the OC owned deed. An option to gain a letter from a person who was present during the original deed work to see if that can be utilized to change the deeds. More investigation to be conducted.

2.) No update on the investigation for this item: (April item) Judge McAdoo stated the Collectors' office is being looked into as there is $14,000 discrepancy. Justice Aregood asked how many people were affected by the mistake, but it is currently unknown how far back the reporting error had started.

3.) Collector/Treasurer ballot issue. Judge McAdoo stated there is an ongoing investigation into the legal options for the ballot. Mr. White (election commissioner) stated there is an option to have the QC to approve an ordinance to have a ballot item that allows there to be a “YES” or “NO” option for the position. Then in the 2031 election the person(s) can be presented for the voters to choose from. Keri Weatherford stated her office can provide a service to help inform the voters of all of the associated costs/risks to each option. More updates to be determined.
