Today, on National Firefighters Day, our hearts are heavy as we extend our deepest condolences, prayers, and unwavering support to the family of Fire Chief Caleb Miller of Rosebud, as well as the entire Rosebud Volunteer Fire Department and community.
The Cameron Volunteer Fire Department has been in contact with their members, and we stand ready to support them in any way possible during this time of tragedy. Whether it’s lending a hand, standing shoulder to shoulder, or simply being present, we are here because that’s what this brotherhood and sisterhood is all about.
Being a volunteer firefighter is more than answering a call it’s a commitment to serve others before yourself. It’s long nights, missed family time, and stepping into the unknown when others are running away. It takes courage, selflessness, and a deep sense of duty that can’t be taught only lived. Volunteer firefighters don’t do it for recognition or reward; they do it because their communities matter, because protecting life and property matters, and because they’ve chosen a path of service that few truly understand.
Today is a reminder of the sacrifice every firefighter makes career or volunteer. It’s a reminder of the risks taken, the bonds formed, and the lives impacted through service. And today, it’s also a reminder of the weight that comes with that calling.
Chief Miller’s life and service will not be forgotten. His leadership, dedication, and sacrifice reflect the very best of what it means to wear the badge. We honor him by continuing to serve, to support one another, and to carry forward the values he stood for.
To the Miller family, and to our brothers and sisters in Rosebud please know you are not alone. We stand with you, we grieve with you, and we will continue to lift you up in the days ahead.
Rest easy, Chief. We’ll take it from here.
