🌟 We Rolled Out the Red Carpet! 🌟

De Soto Trail Regional Library System had the honor of welcoming Georgia’s new State Librarian, Angela Stanley, this morning!

We were more than happy to roll out the "red carpet" and celebrate Angela as she begins this exciting new chapter. Her visit to DTRL was just one of many stops on her tour of library systems across Georgia and we are so grateful she chose to spend part of her morning with us!

We enjoyed the opportunity to visit, share, and talk all things libraries with her, and we are excited about what the future holds for Georgia’s public libraries under her leadership.

Angela, congratulations and welcome to your new role! We are cheering you on and look forward to working alongside you as we continue serving, connecting, and strengthening communities through libraries.

We are pleased to announce the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) at The Library of Congress has selected Georgia Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (GLS) as the 2026 Network Library of the Year, recognizing GLS’ outstanding service to readers with visual, physical, or print disabilities.

“With its innovative programming, 24/7 commitment to patron satisfaction and enthusiastic outreach to the wider community, the Georgia Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled is a standout example of the work being done by each of the nearly 100 libraries in the NLS network,” said NLS Director Jason Broughton.

While the majority of their patrons are blind or visually impaired, GLS also serves those with a wide range of reading disabilities, including dyslexia, brain injuries, and those who are not capable of physically holding a book, ensuring that everyone has access to accessible reading materials.

This included circulating nearly 400,000 books on audio cartridges and in hard-copy braille in 2025.
