Spring Scholar Athlete Awards are Announced

Congratulations to the following nine Spring Varsity Athletic Teams who qualified as NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Teams: Boys Tennis, Softball, Girls Track, Boys Track, Girls Golf, Girls Lacrosse, Boys Lacrosse, Baseball, and Unified Basketball!

To receive a Scholar Athlete Team award, 75% of the roster must have a GPA of 90 or above.

CONGRATULATIONS to all who participated in the West Genesee District Chess Championship.

We had our largest turnout ever with over 50 players participating from 6 out of 7 of the WG schools.

Our Elementary Section came down to a tie-breaker with two players (Veda Jansson and Jack Riggall) after scoring a perfect 4/4 points.

Our District Section only had one player (Donald Tran) with 4/4, making him the sole winner with two other players (R.J. Schubmehl & Aidan McCormick) battling it out for second place with 3.5/4 points.

Elementary Section:

1st - Veda Jansson
2nd - Jack Riggall
3rd - Eli Sponaugle

District Section:

1st - Donald Tran
2nd - R.J. Schubmehl
3rd - Aidan McCormick

WGHS Artists Win at the Interscholastic Art Throwdown
West Genesee High School artists took home first place overall at the Interscholastic Art Throwdown! The competition held at Liverpool High School last week.

The competition brought together schools from across Onondaga County for a series of collaborative challenges in drawing, painting, and sculpture. (Other schools represented were from Cicero-North Syracuse, East Syracuse-Minoa, Liverpool, Jamesville Dewitt, and Phoenix.)

Individual West Genesee Team Results:
2nd - West Genesee Gold: Shay Burlingame, Skyler Clabaugh, Cyrus Friers, Lillian Lesperance, Taylor MacCaull, Danny McBride, Keira McHugh, Niyzo’nn Salami, Paxton Ollis
