Last Friday, our Fellows went on their Bus Tour of Gettysburg, sponsored by Alliance Financial and led by our Alum, Cody Baker ’24. He brought history to life as he presented on leadership lessons that included locations such as the Gettysburg National Military Park, Seminary Ridge, Little Round Top, and The Pennsylvania Monument. Throughout the day Cody presented on different perspectives of leadership, gave examples of decisions made by the top leaders, and how each area played a part in outcome of the Civil War. The class finished out the day at Cemetery Ridge and the Soldiers’ National Cemetery for a time of reflection.

Overall, it was a great day of learning about leadership and seeing how the different decisions leaders made affected the aspects of the war! Thank you again to Alliance Financial for sponsoring this amazing day, to Cody for sharing his knowledge, and to Jennifer Love ’24 for facilitating the tour and taking the photos of the day for LC!

Last Thursday, our Fellows Class met for their April session at UPMC Carlisle! To start the day a group of Fellows presented on Reason, highlighting the importance of reality over perception. Then Dan Jensen from Harrisburg University of Science and Technology presented on Decision Making Models. This included the overview of the systematic process of problem-solving including definition, identity the problem, analyzing the problem, selecting and evaluating solutions and building a realistic action plan.

After lunch, they participated in a UPMC Mini-Mindful on Stretching to get ready for the second part of the day! They continued with some team building and then heard about Community Needs on the Growth of the County from Kirk Stoner, Planning Department Director for Cumberland County, PA. To finish out the day they discussed their Nonprofit Board Internships and the next steps with LC Program Director Nicole Deary. We can’t believe that next month is their last class and they will be graduating soon after!
