On 21 April 2006, 15 years ago today, Combat Logistics Battalion 2 was activated and assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 2. Since this time, the Battalion’s motto, “Keep Them Moving,” has been kept alive by Marines and Sailors, past and present. From multiple tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, to the recent large-scale training exercises as far off as Norway and the ever familiar Twentynine Palms, California, CLB 2 will continue to answer the call for service in any clime and place.

#CLB2VAULT Pictured here is (then) Lance Corporal Daniel J. Perez in October 2017 while serving as the guide during close order drill as part of a Commanding General's Readiness Inspection. Remembering back on his time with the battalion, Sergeant Perez reflects on his growth as an individual and a leader of Marines.

“Looking back to when I first came to CLB-2 in November of 2016, I’ve seen myself grow and mature drastically in such a positive way. I see it in my everyday tasks and how much responsibility is given to me now that I can prove my work and show what it takes to be a great leader. I’ve been given the opportunity to do many billets within my MOS, such as Training NCO, Fire Team Leader, Squad Leader, Chief Dispatcher, and, currently, the Headquarters Platoon Sergeant.

I still keep in touch with many of the people [pictured here] and we will always have that bond of brotherhood that even distance can’t break apart. I’ve made so many brothers and sisters while in CLB-2 and we will never forget the memories we’ve made together…”

Sergeant Daniel J. Perez will be reporting to Basic Recruiter Course 6-21 in August 2021 and upon graduation will be assigned as a Recruiter, MOS 8411.

For those commenting on the recent cold Eastern North Carolina days, this is Corporal Gabriel Rodriguez who is currently attending the Basic Cold Weather Leaders Course at Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport, California.

“The course has been quite the experience. I’m learning so much about the capabilities of gear and Marines, alike. [I can’t] wait to get out there to the field and put our knowledge to the test... I can’t wait to bring this back to CLB 2!”

#CLB2VAULT Pictured here is (then) Second Lieutenant Wyatt Nelson and newly promoted Lance Corporal Zachary Meloy in May of 2018 while in support of Integrated Training Exercise 3-18. As the Platoon Commander for 1st Platoon, Second Lieutenant Nelson led his Marines as they conducted rehearsals in preparation for a scheduled training event. Remembering back on the day, (now) Captain Nelson recalls a sudden “ATTENTION TO ORDERS!,” and completely catching the newly promoted Marines by surprise. Of the moment, Corporal Meloy recalls being told about the importance of promotions in the Marine Corps and the increased leadership responsibilities that go along with each promotion. In his own words, “I’ve learned a lot while being at CLB 2 and [I] give a lot of credit to my [Corporals] and their own leadership styles that I’ve adopted over the years.”

Captain Nelson is now serving with Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Pacific, Coronado, California and Corporal Meloy recently transferred to Marine Wing Support Squadron 271, MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina.

Sergeant Sergio Gonzalez Jr, with the Communications Section, recently became the face of the CREDO MCI-East - Camp Lejeune Wilderness Personal Growth Expedition. He attended one of the first retreats last October. These expeditions are 4 to 5 nights of camping, hiking, rappelling, and rock climbing in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

In his own words, “The retreat was very physically demanding and gave me a real sense of accomplishment. The slow down allowed for a break from things going on in [my] life. We did not have phones, so it was a real eye opener for us. It enabled everyone to be more mindful of where we are in life and to find solutions or cope with our life stresses.”

CREDO events and retreats are a great way for personal growth or marriage enrichment. To find out more information on different CREDO events and opportunities check out: http://www.mccslejeune-newriver.com/credo/

💪 #TeamMLG Motivator of the Week

Lance Cpl. Jose Garcia, Combat Logistics Battalion 2

His advice for all leaders: “Failure is not an option.”

⤵️⤵️⤵️

Lance Cpl. Garcia is an inventory management specialist with the supply section, Headquarters and Service Company, CLB-2. According to his leadership, he is always one of the first to arrive at work and last to leave at the end of the day. A St. Louis, Missouri native, Lance Cpl. Garcia is relied upon heavily to help accomplish his section’s mission, regardless of scale. He has quickly become a valuable asset to both his colleagues and his battalion.

Bravo Zulu, Lance Cpl. Garcia!

🗒🗒🗒

The Motivator of the Week title recognizes the Marine or Sailor whose leadership improves their unit's support of 2nd MLG and II Marine Expeditionary Force.
