Is your child’s car seat installed correctly?

Did you know nearly 1 in 2 car seats are installed or used incorrectly? A properly installed car seat can make a big difference in keeping your child safe.

Certified Car Seat Technicians from the Verde Valley Region are partnering with Buena Vista Children’s Services at their Family Fall Carnival on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clemenceau Museum, 1 North Willard Street, Cottonwood.

Our certified technicians will:

- Inspect your car seat to make sure it is installed properly

- Check that your child fits the seat correctly

- Replace car seats that are expired or damaged/broken

Car seat replacements are limited to one seat per child and are available while supplies last.

Stop by and let us help make sure your little one is riding as safely as possible!

A special thank you to everyone who helped plan, instruct, and support the academy. Your time, knowledge, and dedication played an important role in preparing our newest firefighters for the road ahead.

Fire Restrictions Update: Copper Canyon Fire & Medical District will rescind Stage I Fire Restrictions beginning at 8:00 a.m. today Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

With the recent monsoon moisture, fire danger levels have decreased across the Verde Valley. However, we urge everyone to remain vigilant and continue making fire-smart choices. Help prevent wildfires by fully extinguishing campfires, avoiding outdoor burning on windy days, properly disposing of smoking materials, securing trailer chains, and keeping vehicles off dry grass.

A single spark can start a wildfire, so please use caution during all outdoor activities.

Flood Watch in effect today, July 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. for Yavapai County, northern Gila County, and the Oak Creek and Sycamore Canyons.

Heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding in creeks, normally dry washes, swimming holes, low-water crossings, and recently burned areas, including the Pocket Fire burn scar.

If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around, don’t drown. Stay weather aware, avoid flood-prone areas, and never attempt to drive or walk through floodwaters. Monitor local weather updates and be prepared to change your plans if conditions worsen. Stay safe!
