This , we want to remind you to stay safe out there this summer!

As we enter the warmer months, remember these key elements:

H for Health: Heat is the number one weather-related killer in the U.S. — put your health first.

E for Environment/Weather: Always check the forecast and save tough outdoor excursions for cooler days or higher elevations.

A for Awareness: Know the signs of heat exhaustion and the life-saving procedure for heat stroke (call 911).

T for Take Action: Stay hydrated, stay cool, check on others, and be prepared!

Heat Awareness Day is a safety and preparedness initiative to raise awareness of the health risks from extreme heat and encourage safe practices all summer long.

💧 Stay hydrated
🧊 Stay cool
🤝 Check on others
✅ Be prepared!

Happy National Otter Day 🦦!

See any otters lately? Did you know that due to pollution, trapping, and habitat loss, river otters were once completely gone from this area? They were reintroduced to Arizona in the 1980’s and have been making a comeback! Want to be part of the mission to discover how far they’ve spread and how they’re doing. Help and be an Otter Spotter, and share where you've seen otters in the Verde River Watershed.

It’s World Bee Day 🐝 and our amazing friends at Milkweeds for Monarchs & NAU installed bee hotels in the pollinator garden for our little buzzing friends!

These structures are designed for solitary, cavity-nesting bees, that don’t live in a hive producing honey but instead spend their lives mating, gathering nectar and pollen, and building their nest (alone) ☺️.

These little hotels 🏡 provide them a safe spot to chill, lay their eggs, and raise their babies.

Next time you’re at the park, see if you can spot the two hotels in the garden 🪴

It’s National Boating Safety Week! This summer, kayaking the Verde here is a great way to have fun- but don’t forget your life jacket!

Life jackets save lives! 🌊🛟
Common sense? Sadly, 87% of drowning victims in recreational boating accidents were not wearing a life jacket, according to the latest U.S. Coast Guard statistics (2023). A life jacket is the most important piece of safety gear you can wear, whether on a boat, personal watercraft, or paddlecraft.

Keep your fun day on the water FUN by putting safety first. 😎 Get more boating safety information this National Week at azstateparks.com/boating-safety.

🌵🐾Today is National Endangered Species Day🌵🐾

Did you know, that according to USFW, Arizona is home to 74 endangered or threatened species? Even here in the Verde Valley - we are more than just beautiful scenery—we're a lifeline for wildlife, including several species that depend on our healthy rivers, cottonwood forests, and open desert habitats.

Along the river here in the park, you might hear the soft call of the Southwestern Willow Flycatcher, a small bird that relies on dense riverside vegetation to survive, or you might even see the rare Razorback Sucker, swimming quietly beneath the surface, a reminder of how important healthy waterways are.

These species—and many more—remind us that places like Rockin’ River Ranch are vital spots to help protect the future of Arizona’s wildlife.

💚 How you can help:
• Stay on designated trails to protect nesting and river habitats
• Keep wildlife wild—observe from a distance
• Pack out what you pack in- trash harms wildlife by causing fatal ingestion, entanglement, habitat destruction, and increased vehicle collisions
• Support your state parks and conservation efforts
