🌵🐾Today is National Endangered Species Day🌵🐾
Did you know, that according to USFW, Arizona is home to 74 endangered or threatened species? Even here in the Verde Valley - we are more than just beautiful scenery—we're a lifeline for wildlife, including several species that depend on our healthy rivers, cottonwood forests, and open desert habitats.
Along the river here in the park, you might hear the soft call of the Southwestern Willow Flycatcher, a small bird that relies on dense riverside vegetation to survive, or you might even see the rare Razorback Sucker, swimming quietly beneath the surface, a reminder of how important healthy waterways are.
These species—and many more—remind us that places like Rockin’ River Ranch are vital spots to help protect the future of Arizona’s wildlife.
💚 How you can help:
• Stay on designated trails to protect nesting and river habitats
• Keep wildlife wild—observe from a distance
• Pack out what you pack in- trash harms wildlife by causing fatal ingestion, entanglement, habitat destruction, and increased vehicle collisions
• Support your state parks and conservation efforts
