Love Schor? Us too!

In the hopes of creating a healthier forest at Schor, CLC began timber harvesting this month. The harvest is expected to take three to four weeks, and to keep visitors safe while this work is ongoing, the Warbler Way trail and western portions of the Red Fox Loop are closed.

We ask that visitors help us care for this special place by giving the loggers lots of room to work and taking alternate trails instead!

Deer hunting season begins today, October 1st, on select CLC lands! For this season, a limited number of hunting permits have been distributed at sections of Hand Hollow, Schor, and Overmountain.

🔶 For a safe and enjoyable experience at these sites, we highly encourage visitors to stay on trails, wear blaze orange or fluorescent pink (and consider putting gear on your dog!), and hike during the daytime.

🔶 For hunters, folks must get permission from CLC and follow the hunting rules for each site. Harvests should be reported to CLC at the end of each hunt.

When you blink and all of a sudden, the leaves are changing, it’s cool at night, and fall seems to be on its way! 🦉🍂

This gorgeous barred owl was spotted this morning at Schor in a tree along the edge of Jon’s Pond. While this bird is mostly nocturnal, barred owls are also known to call and hunt during the day.

Such a special delight to see such a beautiful bird!
