Locust Grove VFD is working on another large brush truck to complete the fleet, and we need your help! Our number one goal is to provide the very best fire protection and response possible in our area. We would like to ask for your monetary help in completing this fantastic brush truck platform. For a donation of $500; we will proudly display your ranch brand or logo on the water tank as shown. This not only allows you to contribute to major improvements to your local fire department, it will also give each of you a bit of ownership and pride in our newest fire truck! We will gladly accept Venmo, or you can get a check to any one of our firefighters. Thank you so much for all of the support and encouragement!

Texas A&M Forest Service has raised the Wildland Fire Preparedness Level to Level 3 due to unseasonably warm, dry conditions and freeze‑cured grasses that are expected to increase wildfire activity beginning today.

🔥 Rapidly drying vegetation in the High Plains today through Tuesday, combined with critical to locally extreme fire weather, will elevate fire danger and may make new starts difficult to control. Conditions are expected to remain elevated into Wednesday and expand toward the I‑35 corridor by Thursday.

We continue to monitor the situation and stand ready to respond to any requests for assistance.

Xcel Energy says they are preparing for strong winds in Texas and New Mexico on Feb. 17, which may cause power outages and increase wildfire risk. Xcel is looking at possibly conducting a Public Safety Power Shutoff to reduce risk!
If Xcel performs these actions it’s to help prevent wildfires, be prepared for these possible shut offs as far as food in the fridge and other items in the house.

February 15th: Strong wind speeds and warm temperatures return to the panhandles this week. That alongside dry conditions will spell bad news for fire danger this week. The worst days look to set up on Tuesday and Wednesday.
