🚨 High Fire Danger Today 🚨
Strong winds create an increased risk for wildfires. Please avoid any activities that could spark a fire and help us keep our community safe. Stay alert and use extreme caution today.

Increased wildfire danger continues through the weekend across the state.🔥

State wildfire response resources remain ready to support local firefighters.🚒

Continue to monitor local conditions and follow instructions from local officials.

Many of our CVFD volunteers were on hand today for a close-up look at the Texas Forest Service Single Engine Airtankers (SEATs) ✈️🚒 currently stationed at the Canadian Airport. These aircraft — along with their pilots and ground crew 👨‍✈️👩‍🔧 — will remain here on standby to assist our area and surrounding counties if aerial firefighting support is needed.

During today’s visit, crews completed training air drops 💧🔥 and walked our volunteers through the full process of loading and filling the planes. SEATs are fixed-wing aircraft equipped with tanks that carry fire retardant or water. Their drops can slow a fire’s spread, help ground crews access difficult terrain, and provide fast, effective support during the initial attack of a wildfire 🌲🔥.

We are incredibly grateful to have these resources and personnel here in Canadian 🙏❤️ and we pray we don’t have to call on them. But if the need arises, we are thankful they’re ready and on standby.

Calling All Firefighters! Come to Canadian, Wednesday, November 12th, at 6 pm. Free supper and Fire Fighting info.

We’ve all heard that the 89th Texas Legislature passed amazing NEW funding for our Fire Departments, from GRANTS for Fire Trucks to better communication equipment, big bucks for better air support and response time, new rules and regulations on wildfire risks of all kinds from worn out oil field electrical connections to old utility poles.

But, most of us are still asking the same questions, WHERE IS THIS MONEY? And, HOW DOES MY FIRE DEPARTMENT GET SOME OF THESE $$$$$ ?

So, we have asked our State Representative Ken King, Chairman of the State Affairs Committee, who wrote and/or supported these bills and the budget allocations for them, to come and gives us the REAL information on what they say, how they work and how we access the funding for our hometowns and Fire Departments. Please join us, and take home with you the knowledge, contacts and resources needed to find support for what your Fire Department needs.

Come for supper and to get your Fire Department funding questions answered at the Canadian TX Fire Station, 5 W. Main Street, Wednesday, November 12th, at 6 pm. Send a representative or bring the whole crew!

We look forward to seeing you there! For more info or to let us know you are coming, call or text Remelle Farrar at 325-236-1566. This meeting is hosted by the Canadian EDC.
