Our Explorers put in some great work during training this week. They learned how to safely maneuver and operate a charged fire hose, practiced victim drags, and were introduced to basic patient care skills including taking blood pressure.

Building hands-on skills early is key, and these members continue to step up every time they train. 💪🚒

Over the last 2 weeks, our Fire Explorers have been putting in the work! 🚒💪
Training has focused on auto extrication and search & rescue, giving our explorers hands-on experience with the skills they’ll need on real calls. Members practiced vehicle stabilization and patient access during extrication scenarios, followed by interior search techniques using training smoke to simulate low-visibility conditions.
Working in these environments helps build confidence, teamwork, and situational awareness—key components of success in the fire service. We’re proud of the dedication and effort these young men and women continue to show every time they train.

This week our Explorers continued building their skills and confidence in the fire service 👨‍🚒

They spent time getting more comfortable operating in full PPE with SCBA, working on mask confidence, and movement in gear. They also got hands-on experience with ground ladders—learning proper carries, raises, and teamwork to safely place ladders.

Great work by this group as they keep pushing themselves and developing the fundamentals. The future of the fire service is looking strong! 💪🔥

This hands-on academy is perfect for youth interested in fire & EMS, featuring training in:

• Hose Advancement, Nozzles & Streams

This week, our Fire Explorers met at the Strausser St. Station to receive their turnout gear, and put it to work during hands-on gear drills. They also learned the ins and outs of the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), building a strong foundation in essential fireground skills.
We’re excited to see such a large group eager to learn and grow in the fire service—this is where the next generation gets its start. 🔥🚒
