Our kindergarten artists celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by creating colorful crowns inspired by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo!

Students learned about Frida's life, her artwork, and her iconic eyebrows before creating their own masterpieces. They had a blast showing off their beautiful crowns!

💼 How many years have you worked at Canal Wi******er Schools?
This is my second year.

📓 What was your favorite subject in school?
English or Physical Education

💖 Who or what inspired you to become an educator?
I had a fantastic physical education teacher who was also my track coach. He was more than a teacher. He made sure I was making good choices, had food to eat, and genuinely cared that I became a successful person. He believed in me.

📚 What is your favorite book?
A very difficult decision! I read A LOT, usually about 1–2 books a week. The best books I've read since the start of 2026 are "Demon Copperhead" by Barbara Kingsolver, "The Things We Never Say" by Elizabeth Strout, and "Good People" by Patmeena Sabit.

🍽️ What is your favorite food?
Dill pickles

❤️ What is your favorite part of being a principal?
Definitely when I get into classrooms and can spend time reading to students. I also love the celebrations, like our "fine dining" experience for our Golden Plate winners or Student of the Month celebrations.

At Indian Trail Elementary, learning goes beyond reading, writing, and math! 💜

In Ms. Susan Kirkpatrick's Social Skills class, 1st- and 2nd-grade students learn to understand and manage their emotions, show compassion for others, and develop a positive mindset.

Throughout the year, students explore the importance of kindness, practice problem-solving and conflict resolution, and learn how positive self-talk and perseverance can help them overcome challenges.

These lessons help our students grow not just as learners, but as classmates, friends, and members of our community!

Canal Wi******er Middle School transformed into an ancient Greek arena for an afternoon during the annual 7th Grade Greek Olympics!

Students represented their Greek city-states as they competed in events like discus, thumb wrestling, sprinting, and long jump. From the competitors to the cheering crowds, the energy was incredible!

💖 Who or what inspired you to become an educator?
The great educators and administrators at my alma mater, Pickerington Central. I had great teachers in every subject, from core classes to electives. Many were also advisors or coaches for clubs and sports I participated in.

Hibachi

Watching the students we've poured into throughout their high school journey graduate! (But a super close second is pep rallies!)
