Mercy Flight Central

Mercy Flight Central An independent, nonprofit organization of air medical professionals. Mercy Flight Central provides the highest level of pre-hospital critical care to patients.
(1)

Mercy Flight Central was founded as a non-profit in 1992 to provide air medical services to New York State residents and beyond. Since its inception, the organization has served more than 15,000 patients and grown to approximately 70 employees. MFC’s three base locations serve the regions of the Finger Lakes, Central New York, and Mohawk Valley, including service to the Lower Adirondacks. The orga

nization began operations as an advanced life support air ambulance service and has since expanded to become New York’s premier critical care air medical service with three helicopters staffed 24/7/365. The aircraft utilized in transports includes helicopters that can travel within a 150-mile radius of Mercy Flight Central’s base locations. Each helicopter is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment that includes advanced airway management, cardiac monitoring, and ultrasonography devices. Our Flight Nurse and Flight Paramedic teams are highly trained and experienced in critical care. Air medical teams care for critically ill and injured patients requiring advanced treatment and rapid air medical transport to specialized medical centers across the northeast. Together these elements allow Mercy Flight Central to deliver a high level of critical care to the scene of an accident or a patient’s bedside.

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting the Wayne Finger-Lakes Boces Health Careers classes at our Canandaigua base! 🚁

More than 30 students and instructors toured the base, learned about our history, mission, and operations, explored the aircraft and medical equipment up close, and even had the opportunity to practice their skills in our simulation trailer.

We’re always grateful for opportunities to connect with the next generation of healthcare professionals and share a behind-the-scenes look at air medical transport. Thank you to Wayne Finger Lakes BOCES for spending the day with us!

100 flights, countless lives impacted, and one incredible full circle moment! 🚁❤️

Last weekend, flight paramedic Jesse (middle right) completed his 100th flight alongside flight nurse Shannon and pilots Ed and Mo. Even more special — the second photo is from Jesse’s very first flight… also with Ed and Shannon by his side.

From flight 1 to flight 100, it’s been an honor watching the dedication, growth, and teamwork that make moments like these so meaningful. Congratulations, Jesse! 👏

Last week, we had the opportunity to spend time with Ontario County Administrator Chris DeBolt and Deputy County Administrator Meghan Maslyn to continue strengthening a relationship that has existed for many years.

As an organization founded in Ontario County, we’re proud of the partnerships and support that have helped Mercy Flight Central grow alongside the communities we serve. Time together focused on collaboration, community needs, and the importance of maintaining strong relationships that support the health and safety of our region.

We’re grateful for leaders who continue to value open conversation, partnership, and a shared commitment to the community. 🚁❤️
