Local Businesses. Local Firefighters. One Strong Community. 🏠❤️

Our recent training seminar with Dr. David Griffin was a landmark event for Hopewell Volunteer Fire Departmwnt, but it wouldn’t have been possible without the backbone of our community: the local businesses that made up our title sponsors and vendors.

Title Sponsors:
Firematic Supply Co. Inc
Fire Districts of NY Mutual Insurance Co. Inc.
Runnings
Servpro of Victor/Canandaigua

Vendors
Twin Pines Outdoor Power
The Communications Solutions Group
Twin Tier Fire & Safety Services
First Out Rescue

Every single one of our sponsors and vendors is a business right here in our area. Their support does more than just fund a seminar—it provides us with the education and tools we need to show up for you when it matters most. When you support these businesses, you’re indirectly supporting the safety of our entire community.

We are honored to have such incredible partners in our corner. Thank you for helping us bring the best possible training to our department!

We are incredibly grateful to Dr. David Griffin for joining us at the Hopewell Volunteer Fire Department this past weekend. Sharing the raw reality of the 2007 Charleston Sofa Super Store fire is no easy task, but his openness regarding that tragic day provided our team and visiting departments with invaluable insight.

Beyond the tactics, Dr. Griffin’s words on PTSD, mental health, su***de awareness, and principled leadership resonated deeply with everyone in the room. It was a reminder that being a first responder is just as much about mental resilience as it is about physical readiness.

A huge thank you to the many departments who traveled to train with us, and a special shout-out to our title sponsors and vendors. Your support is the reason we can bring top-tier, life-saving education to our community.

We are grateful to have hosted this and for so many great departments to join us!

Today, six members of the Middlesex Hose Company attended Hopewell Fire's annual Conference, where we had the opportunity to listen to guest speaker Dr. David Griffin.

Dr. Griffin shared his firsthand experience from the Charleston Sofa Super Store Fire (2007), a tragic incident where nine firefighters lost their lives. As the officer on the first-due engine that day, he provided powerful insight into the events that unfolded, the lessons learned, and the lasting impact it had on him and the fire service.

He also spoke openly about his personal struggles with PTSD following the incident, reminding us all of the importance of mental health and taking care of one another, both on and off the fireground.

We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from his experience and continue to bring that knowledge back to better serve and protect our community.
