Happy June! With summer being right around the corner, that means much warmer weather will soon be here too. ☀️

If you're working outdoors, visiting our parks, or enjoying some time outdoors at home, The Town of Canandaigua wants to make sure that you stay safe in the heat!

Here's some safety tips you can follow to make sure you're protected while still having fun:

💧 Stay hydrated

☀️ Wear sunscreen

🥵 Dress for the heat with lightweight clothing

🌳 If possible, take breaks in the shade

🐱🐹 Make sure your furry friends have plenty of water

Last but not least: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵!

Geared towards 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝟭𝟯 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗽, the Senior Ranger Patch allows explorers to experience environmental concepts, brush up on their outdoor skills, and overall take on more of an active role in conservation! 🌳

Next up for our new Patch Program: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 (Also known as Junior Ranger Patch)

Do you have explorers aged 12 and under who’s looking for a summer adventure they won’t forget? 🥾🗺️ The Junior Ranger Patch will help them explore nature, learn about the world around them, and discover how to protect the environment.

Make sure to keep these Ranger Safety Tips in mind when exploring:

- Stay on marked trails 🧭

- Respect wildlife and observe from a distance 🦅

Over the next couple of days, we’ll be sharing information about the different patches🌳

Up first: 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹: Make sure to visit all 8 parks below AND complete at least 1 activity from this list for each location:

☕🍪 𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐀 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐊 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐑! 🏕️🧊

We’re excited to share that The Company Store will be bringing a concession stand to Onanda Park this summer!

Work is actively underway, and great progress is being made to get the space ready for the season. The goal is to soft open on Friday of Memorial Day Weekend, with plans to expand to 7 days a week once operations are fully up and running (hours to be announced).

🍪 Cookies & grab-and-go foods
🥤 Refreshments & snacks
🍦 Novelty ice cream
🏕️ Camping essentials, groceries, firewood, ice & more

This will be a great addition for campers, park visitors, and anyone spending time at Onanda Park!
