PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: DRIVER'S EDUCATION 2026!!!

On 07/23/2026, the Canandaigua Police Department was proud to team up with the Driver's Ed Instructors at the Canandaigua Academy to help teach the students at the summer Driver's Education Program.

Canandaigua Police Officers provided classroom lectures on laws pertaining to driver's licenses, distracted driving, what to do when involved in a motor vehicle accident, what to do if they are stopped by the police, and the effects of intoxicated and drugged driving. Students were then given a series of practical exercises where intoxication was simulated to highlight the effects that alcohol and drugs have on their driving abilities. These exercises included: driving an obstacle course, field sobriety tests, and fine motor skill drills. Students were also tested on their what their responsibilities are when stopped by the police on an actual traffic stop.

Thank you to the summer driver's education instructors at the Canandaigua Academy, and to the students for once again making this a very positive experience for all.
