Business First magazine, a Buffalo-based regional business publication, ranks the school as a Top 20 Rochester region middle school. Building Principal & 6th Grade: Mr. John Arthur, 396-3856
7th Grade Assistant Principal: Mrs. Anne Ceddia, 396-3851
8th Grade Assistant Principal: Mr. Peter Jensen, 396-3880

An administrator is assigned to each of the grade levels. The Building Principal is designated as the 6th Grade Principal in addition to carrying building principal responsibilities. Assistant Principals supervise the 7th and 8th grades, respectively. Each of three building counselors cycles with the same student group over the three years of middle school. Advisory begins each day for every student, allowing small groups of students to meet daily with an assigned staff member to form a supportive, caring relationship.

2016-2017 student numbers at the beginning of the school year are:

Total: 795 (in building)
6th Grade: 272
7th Grade: 243
8th Grade: 280

Advisory begins each day for every student, allowing small groups of students to meet daily with an assigned staff member to form a supportive, caring relationship. Students can participate in Project Lead the Way (a technology curriculum track in partnership with RIT), electives in Social Studies and Science in grades 7 & 8, a wide array of other enrichment options, and the renowned research-based Olweus anti-bullying program is the foundation for a program adapted to local needs. The school also celebrates good character with its unique Be a BRAVE program. A team teaching approach enables a focus on the academic and social/emotional growth of the young adolescent. While academic study is the center of all school programs, many special activities are planned with regard to the specific characteristics unique to this age, and there is a full complement of extra-curricular club activities, supervised by staff, during after-school hours. District affiliated team athletics opportunities begin at 7th grade. Facilities changes that were completed for the start of school in September, 2007, notably the addition of a modern Library/Media Center and other building configuration improvements, enhance the building's reputation as a model Middle School! A Capital Project approved by District residents in December, 2014, is under way and will provide expanded tennis courts, a reconfigured parking lot, and public rest room facilities accessible from outside the building. Those facilities are scheduled to open in Fall, 2016.

8th grade students participated in a simulation about the Great Depression. Students had to budget the little money they were given for food, housing, car payments, taxes, clothing and more. Eventually some students ended up living in cardboard boxes like the "Hoovervilles" that were built in the Great Depression. The name comes from President Herbert Hoover, who was President of the USA when the stock market crashed in 1929.
