FLOATING SOLAR PANELS

Take a look at the language from Senate Bill S.4571A:

The bill defines “floating solar” as solar panels mounted on floating structures on bodies of water, including canals, lakes, reservoirs, and ponds.

It directs the state to create a Floating Solar Incentive and Education Program to provide technical assistance, resources, and financing information for these projects.

Yes, you are reading that correctly.

And yes, tonight the Senate Majority passed this bill.

Proud to honor Gene Gerrard as my 2026 NYS Senate Veterans Hall of Fame inductee.

At 104 years old, when asked what he loves most about our country, Gene answer was simple: “Our freedoms.”

Gene is a World War II veteran who answered the call to serve at just 17 years old and never stopped.

From his service in the United States Coast Guard to decades as an elected official and volunteer firefighter, to his continued giving back in his community, his life is defined by service.

He is also a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a proud member of his community, still marching in the Canandaigua Fourth of July parade each year.

During the NYS Senate Recognition Ceremony, Gene proudly led the Pledge of Allegiance along with his great granddaughter’s who signed the pledge.

This is what a lifetime of service looks like.

Congratulations Gene!

Deeply honored to join the Caledonia community for their moving Memorial Day Commemoration.

Seeing the incredible community spirit in Caledonia reminds me of the enduring strength of our nation. As we look ahead to celebrating America's 250th anniversary, we carry their legacy of service, courage, and unity forward into our next chapter.

Thank you to everyone who organized this beautiful event and to all who came out to honor our heroes. Let us never forget.

Healthcare providers, Firefighters, EMS personnel, and rural communities have raised concerns for years about workforce shortages, access to care, ambulance services, and mental healthcare.

The State’s own reports documented these challenges and offered recommendations. Yet this budget fails to provide a meaningful response.

Listen to my remarks during the budget debate as I explain why rural communities deserve more than acknowledgement of these challenges — they deserve action.
