🚑🐣 Learning in Action!

Canastota High School students who are part of the Greater Lenox Ambulance Service (GLAS) Junior Member Program recently assisted with ambulance support during this month’s Easter Egg Hunt.

Through this hands-on experience, students gain valuable insight into EMT operations and build real-world medical skills as they prepare to become GLAS volunteers—an incredible way to serve their community!

🐣🥚 Some Easter Egg Hunt fun this morning with the Village of Canastota Recreation 🐰🐇

We had a crew there to support the young scavengers in their quest for some candy-filled eggs. We even brought a friend along to show our youngest community members that ambulances aren't scary places. They are there to care for you when you are hurt or injured, making you feel better.

Thank you to EMT Cassey, Driver Angel, and Junior Associates Addison and Isaac! Our volunteers and paid staff are the heart of the agency.

🚑 To the community members we serve. 🚑

Most insurance companies send us a check 📬 directly for the services we provide. However, there is a loophole in the insurance law that allows some insurance companies to send checks directly to the patient. These checks are meant to be turned over to us. Unfortunately, many people keep these checks and deprive us of that revenue. 📉 There are also people who never pay for our services or make any attempt to work with us on a payment plan.

‼️ In 2025, these 2 scenarios resulted in $80,000 never being paid. 💸

We are encouraging everyone who receives an insurance check to bring that check to us as soon as possible ⌚️. If you receive a bill from us, please don’t just throw it out 🗑️. Call us 📲 and work with us on payment. We want to continue to provide excellent service to our community and everyone’s cooperation would greatly help with that. 🙌

Merry Christmas from the Greater Lenox family to yours!

We want to take a moment to recognize our staff who are working today to protect our area. This also goes to our brothers and sisters working fire, law enforcement, dispatch, and other EMS agencies.

Greater Lenox held its annual Christmas party last night. The room was full of our members, socializing and enjoying each other's company. There may have also been a few laughs. 😁

We also got to recognize a crew from a call back in September. Paramedic Vanessa Evans and EMT Joseph Sampson received The Neuroscience Excellence Award for EMS in recognition of "Time is Brain." Paramedic Evans and EMT Sampson quickly recognized the signs and symptoms of neurological compromise and rapidly transported to Crouse Hospital, a comprehensive stroke center, where the patient underwent treatment. This is just one example of the incredible things that our members do each and every day. All of our paid staff and volunteer staff are truly valuable assets to our agency, and we appreciate every single one of them.
