**A MESSAGE ABOUT FIREWORKS**

As we get closer to 4th of July weekend, Canby PD and Canby Fire District want to remind residents and visitors about fireworks – Keep it Safe, Keep it Legal.

Call 911 in case of an emergency. Call Non-Emergency Dispatch at 503-655-8211 to report incidents that do not require an immediate, urgent response, such as noise complaints and non-injury accidents.

Now that dry summer weather is upon us, we want to remind citizens that outdoor burning is prohibited.

Per the City of Canby’s Code of Ordinances, burning within the city limits is PROHIBITED. For more information or questions, please call Canby PD Code Compliance at (503) 266-1104, opt.2. To report illegal burning activities, please call the Clackamas County Non-Emergency dispatch line at (503) 655-8211 or call 9-1-1 if it is an emergency situation.

We've got a HOT weekend coming up! Please remember to stay hydrated and be sure to check on family, friends, and vulnerable people who may not have access to cool or air-conditioned spaces.

Visit https://www.clackamas.us/relief to find the locations of cooling shelters around Clackamas County, including a few here in Canby!

Clackamas County offers severe weather shelters -- emergency warming shelters in the winter, and cooling centers during the summer for people to find relief from hot temperatures.

**CANBY PD IS HIRING!!**

The City of Canby Police Department is currently recruiting to fill a Lateral Police Officer position. To qualify as a Lateral Police Officer, candidates must be currently certified (or eligible to be certified upon hire) with Oregon State DPSST as a Police Officer and in good standing with their current and/or previous department. Out of state applicants must be certified as a Police Officer and in good standing with their department - must have completed an equivalent police academy to the state of Oregon DPSST. The first applicant review will be on 7/12/2026.

As we get closer to the Fourth of July, the Canby Police Department wants to remind Canby residents and visitors about fireworks that are legal in Oregon. Under Oregon law, officials may seize illegal fireworks and you may be charged with a Class B Misdemeanor. For further descriptions and definitions, please see ORS 480.111 and ORS 480.120.

Join us this evening from 5:00–7:00 p.m. in Downtown Canby for the City of Canby’s biggest and best Touch-A-Truck event yet!

Bring the whole family to Canby City Hall (222 NE 2nd Avenue) for a hands-on opportunity to explore the vehicles that help keep our community running every day. Climb aboard fire engines, police vehicles, utility trucks, transit buses, heavy equipment, and more while meeting the dedicated people who operate them.
