The Canby Police Department want to remind residents about legal fireworks. Please be careful and follow the law as we near the Fourth of July!

As we get closer to the Fourth of July, the Canby Police Department wants to remind Canby residents and visitors about fireworks that are legal in Oregon. Under Oregon law, officials may seize illegal fireworks and you may be charged with a Class B Misdemeanor. For further descriptions and definitions, please see ORS 480.111 and ORS 480.120.

La ciudad de Canby invita a la comunidad al Foro Comunitario de Finalistas para Jefe de la Policía de Canby, que se llevará a cabo el miércoles 10 de junio de 2026. El foro tendrá lugar en el Salón Comunitario del Departamento de Policía de Canby (Canby Police Department Community Room), ubicado en el 1175 NW 3rd Avenue, a las 6:00 p. m., como parte del proceso de selección del nuevo jefe de la policía.

Los dos finalistas son Jason Lindland y James “Mitch” Coley. Este foro comunitario ofrece a los residentes la oportunidad de interactuar con los finalistas, enviar sus preguntas y conocer más sobre su experiencia y trayectoria.

Ambos finalistas tendrán la oportunidad de presentarse y compartir detalles sobre su experiencia laboral, habilidades y su visión para el departamento. Además, se invita a los miembros de la comunidad a convivir con los finalistas de manera informal durante la última parte del evento.

"El Foro Comunitario de Finalistas para Jefe de la Policía de Canby es una excelente oportunidad para conocer e interactuar con los candidatos", señaló el administrador interino de la ciudad, Randy Ealy. "Esperamos que la comunidad asista a este foro para ayudarnos a garantizar que elijamos al mejor jefe para dirigir a Canby, ahora que nuestro actual jefe, Jorge Tro, se retira tras 30 años de servicio".

Los asistentes tendrán la oportunidad de hacer llegar sus comentarios al gobierno de la ciudad de Canby a través de tarjetas de opinión que se recopilarán durante el evento. La participación de la comunidad es muy importante, por lo que se les anima a asistir. Se ofrecerán bocadillos y refrescos.

The City of Canby invites the community to the Canby Police Chief Finalist Community Forum on Wednesday, June 10th, 2026. The community forum will be held at the Canby Police Department Community Room, 1175 NW 3rd Avenue, at 6:00p as part of the Police Chief finalist selection process.

The two finalists are Jason Lindland and James “Mitch” Coley. The community forum provides residents with the opportunity to engage with the finalists, submit questions, and hear about their experience and
qualifications.

Both finalists will have an opportunity to provide an introduction and share details regarding their background, qualifications, and vision for the department. Furthermore, community members will be encouraged to engage with finalists during the latter part of the forum in an informal meet and greet.

“The Canby Police Chief Finalist Community Forum provides an excellent opportunity to meet and interact with the finalists,” said Interim City Administrator Randy Ealy. “It is our hope that the community attends this forum to help ensure we pick the best chief to lead Canby, as our own Chief Jorge Tro retires
after 30 years of service.”

Community members will have the opportunity to provide feedback to the City of Canby via comment cards collected during the forum. Community input is important, and residents are encouraged to attend
and participate. Light refreshments will be provided.

Last Tuesday, May 26th, the City of Canby hosted a delegation from the Department of Industry and Trade from Bac Ninh, Vietnam. During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed to commemorate friendship and building a strong relationship around trade and commerce. Amy Nguyen, CEO of Dragonberry Produce and President of the United Vietnam Alliance, played a pivotal role in establishing relationships between the City of Canby, Oregon and Bac Ninh, Vietnam.
