After 25 plus years of total service in law enforcement, Lieutenant Rick Langlois is retiring from full time service. Lt Langlois came to us in July 2000. Since then, he has risen through the ranks. Lt Langlois has worked with various officers throughout the years, training them, helping them, pepper spraying and tasing them (for training purposes of course!). The running joke in our department, is that every new officer has caused him to lose more and more hair. Well, he is running out of hair, so it is safe to say that he deserves and earned his retirement. Lt Langlois will be missed at our department, but will remain in a part time capacity. We hope he enjoys his retirement and we are certain we will see him getting his “Ricky Special” at the Candia House of Pizza!

We would like to wish Officer Pellerin and Officer McPherson the best of luck as they both move on to the next chapter of their law enforcement career.

Officer Pellerin joined us in 2018, as a part-time officer, then graduated from the full-time academy, moving into a full-time position in 2019. Officer Pellerin was instrumental in maintaining our cruisers, ensuring they were always clean and in top condition. Officer Pellerin also put his “Bob the Builder” handy work to use on various projects at the station.

Officer McPherson joined us in 2020, part-time, and quickly moved into a full-time position, after graduating from the full-time academy in 2021. Officer McPherson has helped improve the department’s technical support services by assisting with the implementation of our body and in-car cameras, as well as our new in-car laptops and printers. Officer McPherson has also put his “Mr. Clean” attitude forward and helped reorganize many areas of the station to be more functional.

As the writer of this post, who is one of the officers leaving, I speak on behalf of both of us that we will truly miss the relationships that we have developed with so many of you in the town of Candia and promise to visit when we can!

A message from the Chief of Police:

The Candia Police Department would like to let residents know that we are experiencing staffing issues. The Department has been working with the Board of Selectmen and Town Administrator to determine what the next steps are. We will still provide 24-hour coverage and at times we may utilize mutual aid with surrounding agencies to assist.

We are in the process of updating that information. If you are a new business owner, or need to update your emergency contact information with us, or simply don't know what you have on file with us, please contact Officer McPherson at [email protected].

Having updated information is critical for our officers, in the event we need to reach out to you regarding your business or home in an emergency.

We are disappointed to have to make this post, but we want all yard sale operators to be aware. One of the yards sales just reported a technology item was stolen from their yard sale. No description of suspect or vehicle involved. Please be vigilant and call 911 if you see anything suspicious or our non emergency number at 603-483-2317.

Just a friendly reminder that the Candia Town Wide Yard Sale is tomorrow from 8am-2pm. Expect lots of pedestrians walking along the roads, as well as many vehicles parked roadside. Drive slow and enjoy the day!
