Celebrate National Pollinator Week with a very special Story Time on Saturday, June 27th from 10:30-11:30 AM.

Jill and Brannen of Spriggly’s Beescaping will lead an interactive read-along of their original picture book, Finding Home: A Story of a Mason Bee!

Story time will be followed by crafts, coloring, and other activities.

Wear your favorite beach gear for this beach-themed story time & a scavenger hunt through the library!

Ms. Ann of Books Alive will be here on Friday, June 26th from 3:30 – 4:30 PM.

Books Alive is a local organization that provides vibrant story times to youth of all ages around Buncombe County - led by the marvelous Ms. Ann! We’ll read, sing, play, and dance as we celebrate the wonders of reading books aloud together.

Šara of Bilingual Birdies Asheville is stopping by the Enka-Candler Library to guest host a special edition of Hora del Cuento on Wednesday, June 24th (10:30-11:00 AM)!

This bilingual (English & Spanish) Story Time is designed for the whole family, and will include live music, puppets, songs, rhymes, and dancing. It’s sure to be lots of fun!

This event is free to attend, no registration or ticket needed.

Mr. Moon (the official mascot of the Asheville Tourists Baseball Club) will be at the library this Saturday, June 13th from 10:30-11:30 AM!

He will be joining us as our latest Reading MOONtor for a fun and exciting story time, followed by a meet & greet + photo booth with Mr. Moon.

Reading MENtors is a reading initiative that encourages men from our community to celebrate that reading is for everyone. We’re inviting men with different professions from all over Buncombe County to share the joy of reading with young patrons at Enka-Candler Library.

If you’d like to volunteer to be a MENtor or know someone who would be great at it, let us know!

**A librarian is always with the MENtor during the program.**

We’re starting a brand new Game Night on Thursday, June 18th from 4:00-5:30 PM.

We will hold Game Night on the third Thursday of every month.

This program is designed for children and families, all are welcome!

The Hominy Creek Comfort Makers will be back at the Enka-Candler Library on Thursday, June 18th from 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM!

The Comfort Makers aim to provide comfort to anyone who is struggling. If you can sew, crochet, knit, or stuff a pillow, you can help to add a bit of comfort to those in trying times.

All skill levels are welcome, and no registration is necessary.

If you want to help those in need, but can’t make it during that time, we have ready-to-make kits available that you can complete on your own time and return to the library. Available kits include quilts, multiple types of pillows, and more!

Your friendly neighborhood bluebirds have decided to move back into their home at the library.

Recently, we got a sneak peak at their nest and saw three beautiful blue eggs!

Some bird eggs are blue as a form of sun protection! The color is dark enough to block out harmful UVs but light enough to not overheat the eggs.

They’re likely not done laying eggs just yet, but we’ll keep you updated as they develop.

Walking Book Club will be meeting on Tuesday, June 9th from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Buncombe County Sports Park.

There is no assigned book, so there is no pressure to read anything specific beforehand, just come ready to walk and discuss your favorite books!

No registration or sign up is necessary.
