Caney Police Department
Press Release – Mayfest 2026
The Caney Police Department would like to remind everyone that Mayfest 2026 is only one week away. As in previous years, there will be several street closures and traffic changes throughout the duration of the festival.
We understand these closures can create inconvenience for residents and businesses; however, they are necessary to ensure the safety of all attendees and to help make Mayfest a safe and enjoyable event for our community. We take great pride in helping support this annual celebration and want to make sure everyone knows what to expect before the festivities begin.
The event layout and street closures will be very similar to previous years’. Organizers have planned another outstanding event, including the 4th and Live concert Friday night, vendors throughout the festival, and numerous family-friendly activities.

Important Reminder to Residents
Residents who live within barricaded areas will still be allowed access to and from their residences. In some cases, residents may need to temporarily move barricades to enter or exit. This privilege applies to residents only.
The Caney Police Department will be enforcing Kansas Statute 68-2106, which makes it a misdemeanor offense to unlawfully drive around barricades or enter closed roadways without authorization.
If you have a unique circumstance requiring access to a barricaded street, please contact the Caney Police Department at 620-879-2141 or speak with an officer working the event for assistance.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation and look forward to another successful Mayfest for the City of Caney.
