🚨 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
Canadian Wildfire Smoke Affecting Our Area 🚨

Smoke from the Canadian wildfires is causing poor air quality across our region. While everyone can be affected by smoke, it can be especially dangerous for those with:

β€’ Asthma β€’ COPD β€’ Emphysema
β€’ Heart disease β€’ Young children β€’ Older adults
β€’ Anyone sensitive to poor air quality

To help protect yourself:

🌫️ Stay indoors as much as possible, especially during periods of heavy smoke.

🏠 Keep windows and doors closed. If using air conditioning, set it to recirculate to help keep smoky air outside.

😷 If you must be outdoors for an extended period, consider wearing a well-fitting N95 or KN95 mask, which can help filter fine smoke particles.

πŸ’Š Continue taking prescribed medications and always keep rescue inhalers or other emergency medications readily available.

πŸƒ Limit strenuous outdoor activities such as running, yard work, or heavy exercise until air quality improves.

πŸ’§ Stay hydrated, as smoke can irritate your eyes, nose, and throat.
πŸ‘€ Watch for symptoms including increased coughing, wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, dizziness, or unusual fatigue.

☎️ If you experience severe difficulty breathing, chest pain, confusion, or symptoms that do not improve with your prescribed medications, seek medical attention immediately or call 911.

You can monitor current air quality conditions through the Air Quality Index (AQI). When air quality reaches unhealthy levels, everyone should consider reducing prolonged outdoor exposure, and those in sensitive groups should take extra precautions.

Please check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone with chronic respiratory conditions who may need assistance.

Stay safe, and we’ll continue to share updates as conditions change.
