Hello, AC season. Before you cool down, make sure your air conditioner is set up safely. Plug window air conditioners directly into a wall outlet.

Many manufacturers do not allow extension cords. If they are allowed, use the proper type and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Tackling some spring cleaning or painting this weekend?

Oil-soaked rags can start a fire if not handled safely. As oil-based paints and stains dry, they give off heat. If rags are piled up or put in a closed container, that heat can build up and start a fire.

Stay safe:
• Lay rags flat to dry outside, away from anything that can burn
• Or place them in a metal container with a tight-fitting lid

What makes a portable fire extinguisher unusable before a fire even starts? If a fire extinguisher is not properly maintained and serviced, it’s unlikely to perform as intended. That’s why monthly visual checks matter, along with annual maintenance from a trained and certified fire extinguisher professional.

A portable fire extinguisher is only helpful if it’s present, accessible, properly charged, and in working condition when the first few minutes count.
