Meet our horses!

SSG. Timber has been in the Army 7 months and has fast tracked his career. Timber recently went to the Regional Cavalry Competition and was runner up for level 1 overall. Timber is the safest Quarter Horse we have and you can always count on him to shine!

We have officially concluded our training event with ODA 0313 in 10th Special Forces Group. This included four days of riding, horsemanship, and mule packing training which culminated in a two-day tactical exercise. This cross-training increases the lethality of 10th SFG, preparing teams to execute missions in austere environments and employ equine assets to their advantage. ODA 0313 was phenomenal to work with and we look forward to similar training events in the future!

The troopers and horses were a fan favorite today in the Blossom Festival Parade in Canon City! There was a Dairy Queen conveniently located at the parade finish, so the drive thru was a no brainer for lunch!

Meet our riders!

SPC. Lydia Hickel has been on the FCMCG just over a year and is our current soldier trainer and lead demo rider. SPC. Hickel has been in the Army for two years and is a 13R.

SPC. Hickel says her biggest accomplishment on the team is training our new team members, helping train one of our new Mustangs, Pecos, and helping train her assigned horse, Blue Duck, to become a awesome cavalry mount.

SPC. Hickel hopes to pursue horses on the outside and is excited to use the knowledge she gained from the team on personal horses! Keep your eyes out for this duo throughout the summer, you will see them everywhere representing the FCMCG!

Meet our horses!

SPC. Smokey Joe is a 9 year old paint horse that has been on the FCMCG for almost 1 year. SJ is a awesome ceremony horse and also recently just went down to Texas to compete in the Regional Cavalry Competition! SJ is super friendly, and he often probably wonders how a little ranch horse like him ended up in the Army!
