Our Visitor Center volunteers recently had the opportunity to enjoy another amazing field trip! A special thank you to Mack Word and Fremont County Transit for providing transportation to Florence for our group.

Our day began at the Florence Pioneer Museum, where Marty Lamm led us on an engaging and informative tour. We gained a deeper appreciation for the area’s rich history and are grateful for the knowledge and stories she shared with us.

From there, we visited the Bell Tower Cultural Center, where Peg Piltingsrud warmly welcomed us and guided us through the facility. It was wonderful to learn about the many programs and activities available to the community. The pottery studio, art classes, concerts, and live performances truly make the center a valuable community resource.

We also spent time at Observer Ranch, where we enjoyed a picnic lunch and tour. Mike graciously hosted our group and shared insight into the many services and opportunities they provide. It was inspiring to see the positive impact they are making in the community.

Field trips like these help our volunteers build stronger connections to Fremont County’s history, culture, and attractions, allowing them to share meaningful stories and recommendations with visitors exploring the Royal Gorge region. We are incredibly thankful for the local museums, organizations, businesses, and community members dedicated to preserving our heritage and fostering opportunities for education and connection. 💛

Today, the Royal Gorge Chamber Alliance honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it is a time to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.

As we gather with family and friends, attend community events, and enjoy the beauty of our incredible region, we pause to remember the heroes who are no longer with us and the families who continue to carry their legacy forward.

From all of us at the Royal Gorge Chamber Alliance, thank you to our fallen service members for your sacrifice and to all military families for your strength and service. ❤️🤍💙
