The Fremont County Sheriffs Office also reserves the right to block access to our social media pages to any user violating these guidelines, without prior warning or notice. The FCSO Detention Center maintains compliance with the Federal Prison R**e Elimination Act. All employees are vigilant in their efforts to prevent incidents from happening. Offender safety is a primary concern. When an alleged event is reported it is investigated fully, and when supported by evidence all available legal and administrative remedies are utilized. If anyone learns of or has information related to a PREA incident at the FCSO Detention Center, they are encouraged to contact the jail’s PREA Coordinator directly at (719) 276-5512. All PREA reports are investigated. False reporting laws may be applied when appropriate.

We wanted to give everyone an update on the horse that was posted this morning at Brush Hollow.

ACO has located the horse and is working with the owner to safely secure the horse so he may receive care.

We greatly appreciate the community for the alert to the horse and the offers of assistance.

On May 26, 2026, at approximately 6:45 a.m., Deputies with the Fremont County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to Lakeside Cemetery, 1007 Elm Avenue, Canon City, regarding a reported theft.

Deputies learned that multiple items belonging to the City of Canon City had been stolen from the property sometime between May 22, 2026, and May 26, 2026, when the theft was reported.

The stolen items include:

- 1996 Ford F-250 dump truck bearing Colorado license plate #198-EUG
- A red Kawasaki Mule 4010 utility vehicle

Multiple tools and other items were taken and will be attached to this post.

Deputies are actively following up on information related to this case. We are asking residents in the area to check any available surveillance or security camera footage from May 22 through May 26 for suspicious activity.
