Planning a controlled burn? We’ve made the process simple and accessible for Fremont and Custer County residents!

You can now apply for burn permits online and register your controlled burns quickly using the QR code or website listed below. Before burning, be sure to check if conditions allow for safe burning that day.

Please remember: permits help keep our community safe by reducing the risk of wildfires and ensuring emergency services are aware of authorized burns in the area.

Stay safe, burn responsibly, and always follow local burn regulations.

The Canon City Area Fire Protection District was honored to welcome Advance Service Dogs and their team of five service dogs and handlers to our firehouse for a special training opportunity.

During their visit, the dogs were introduced to the unique environment of a fire house experiencing new sights, sounds, smells, and equipment while practicing basic obedience and building confidence in unfamiliar surroundings. Exposure training like this is an important part of preparing service dogs to remain calm, focused, and ready to assist their handlers in a variety of real-world situations.

We appreciate the opportunity to support these dedicated teams and are grateful for the incredible work Advance Service Dogs does in training and developing service animals that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
