Registration for the 72-Hour “River & Gorge” Film Challenge closes on June 7.

Hosted by the Royal Gorge Film Commission in partnership with the Royal Gorge Film Festival, this place-driven filmmaking challenge gives teams 72 hours to write, shoot, and edit an original short film in Fremont County, Colorado.

Open to beginners, students, hobbyists, emerging filmmakers, and pros.

The 72-Hour “River & Gorge” Film Challenge is coming up!

Hosted by the Royal Gorge Film Commission in partnership with the Royal Gorge Film Festival, this is a place-driven filmmaking challenge where Fremont County becomes your studio.

From June 11–14, 2026, teams will have 72 hours to write, shoot, and edit an original short film right here in the Royal Gorge region — all leading to a Red Carpet Premiere + Awards Ceremony on July 17.

Open to everyone — beginners, students, hobbyists, emerging filmmakers, and pros.
