On April 3, 2026, members of the North Strabane Township Police Department, North Strabane Township Fire Department, and Washington Ambulance and Chair Service responded to a critical incident involving a three-year-old child who was critically injured in a lawn mower accident.

At the township meeting on May 26th, the professionalism, dedication, and lifesaving efforts of those responders were formally recognized by the township.

🚓 🚓 PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE 🚓 🚓

We love seeing everyone outside enjoying the weather, but we’ve seen a concerning trend: a rise in dangerous riding and a lack of compliance with officers involving e-bikes, ATVs, and electric motorcycles. Ignoring safety laws or refusing to stop for police puts everyone, especially the riders themselves at severe risk.

While this affects all ages, we are seeing a specific increase in juvenile violations. To keep North Strabane safe, we are stepping up enforcement in response to community concerns.

Parents: We need your help. Please talk to your kids about the risks of reckless riding and the legal necessity of stopping for police.

What you need to know about enforcement, under Pennsylvania law and local ordinances, violations can result in:

✅ Citations and fines for the rider
✅ Citations and fines for parents (of minor violators) for permitting the violations
✅ Driver’s license (or future drivers permits) suspensions
✅ Driver’s license suspension for parents (of minor violators) for permitting the violations
✅ Impoundment or permanent seizure of the vehicle (including tow and storage fees)
✅ Criminal charges for child endangerment in extreme cases.

Important Distinction: High-powered electric motorcycles are not the same as e-bikes. They are not legal for street use by anyone, regardless of age.

Pennsylvania American Water Company has issued a Boil Water Advisory for our area.

While under this advisory, all water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least a minute, then cooled, before using.
Pennsylvania American Water says impacted customers should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation until further notice.
Still, the company says guardians of infants and young children and people at increased risk, such as pregnant women, some of the elderly, and people with severely compromised immune systems, should seek advice from their health care advisors about drinking this water.
Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms, like bacteria, viruses and parasites, which can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea and associated headaches.
If you experience any of these symptoms persistently, Pennsylvania American Water suggests seeking medical advice.
