On April 3, 2026, members of the North Strabane Township Fire Department, North Strabane Township Police Department, and Washington Ambulance and Chair Service responded to a critical incident involving a three-year-old child who was critically injured in a lawn mower accident.

At the township meeting on May 26th, the professionalism, dedication, and lifesaving efforts of those responders were formally recognized by the township.
