Imagination Library of Stark County Stark Library is proud to be the affiliate in Stark County. So far, the program has gifted nearly 130 million books to more than 1,452,000 children since 1995!

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library helps set children up for success by mailing an age-appropriate book each month to children across the world - at no cost to their family! Inspired by her father’s inability to read and write, Dolly Parton started the Imagination Library for the children within her home county and now has participating communities within the United States, United Kingdom, Canada

, Australia and Republic of Ireland. About the Governor’s Imagination Library: Ohio First Lady DeWine saw the impact the Imagination Library had in her own family and wanted every child in Ohio to have the same opportunity. In 2019 she established the Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library, which matches funds to help offset the cost of the program for local affiliates. Stark County's Imagination Library is brought to the children of Stark County by Stark Library, United Way of Greater Stark County, and other area libraries. We are proud to invest in our children's future by putting books in the hands of children right here in our own community, where nearly half of the children are below the poverty level.

Our community signed on to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in 2019 to give our children the best start in life. Inspired by Dolly Parton’s own dad, who couldn’t read or write.

While our hearts are incredibly sad today, we’re more inspired than ever to continue this important mission. Together, we are building a brighter future for our children.

We would like to express our sincere sorrow in hearing the news that Dolly Parton has passed away.

Dolly Parton was an American icon who brought people together and encouraged a love of reading across the world. Inspired by her father’s inability to read and write, Dolly started her Imagination Library in 1995. Today, the program she built spans five countries and gifts millions of free books each month to children around the world.

Stark Library is honored to be a part of Dolly's Imagination Library and will continue to encourage reading, joy and togetherness in Dolly's memory.
