📚🚔 Welcome Back to School, Cherokee County! 🚔📚

The first day of school is here, and that means it’s time for all of us to do our part to keep our students safe.

🚸 School zones are now active. Slow down, obey the posted school zone speed limits when flashing or during posted times, and stay alert for children crossing streets, walking to school, and getting on or off buses.

🚌 Georgia School Bus Reminder:
When a school bus stops with flashing red lights and the stop arm extended, you are required by law to stop.

You MUST stop if you are:
✅ Traveling behind the bus.
✅ Approaching the bus from the opposite direction on a two-lane roadway.

You DO NOT have to stop if you are:
➡️ Traveling in the opposite direction on a roadway separated by a physical median or barrier.

📱 Put the phone down, eliminate distractions, and allow extra travel time as traffic increases around our schools.

Every stop sign obeyed, every school zone respected, and every mile per hour reduced helps protect our children.

Let’s all work together to make this school year a safe and successful one for every student, parent, teacher, bus driver, and crossing guard.
