Happy Friday! Ipava is hosting a Military, Veteran and First Responder Dinner open to the entire community on Saturday May 30th. The dinner is free, but asking for donations for the Honor Flight. The dinner will be from 5PM to 8PM at the Ipava American Legion. If you're open for some good food in a great community come out and help a great cause.

Spoon River Electric is experiencing an outage at are Wee-Ma-Tuk Substation.

Members living in the following areas are without power: Wee-Ma-Tuk, Northgate Subdivision - Canton, east of Cuba, Giant Goose Ranch, and East of Fairview.

5/18/2026 8:20 AM SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FULTON COUNTY
Towns in the path: Banner.
Storm is entering the Banner area now and will likely be out of the Banner area around 8:30-8:45 am.
Primary threat is gusty winds. Had some reports from St David area of gusty winds and thatโ€™s what prompted the warning.

5/18/2026 - EOC UPDATE - 7:15 AM-
Strong to severe storms are likely to impact the County, mid morning. We're in discussion with the US National Weather Service Central Illinois about some storms developing in Schuyler and areas south/west of that traveling east/north east.
Main concern would be damaging winds/large hail and a brief tornado can not be ruled out.
Timing: Would be entering Fulton County around the 8:00 AM timeframe around Astoria/South Fulton Areas.
Residents are encouraged to monitor NOAA All Hazard Alert Radios for any urgent alerts and sign up for the County Text Alert System by sending a text with: "FCEOC" to the phone number 888777.

Shout out to the Hyvee employee who at approximately 4:30 today saved the day. There was an elderly lady pushing a cart full of flowers across the parking lot, to wit a bouquet of flowers fell out of her cart. Chaos continued as her cart took off in the wind. The young man from Hyvee yeeted across the lot with nimble cat like reflexes and stopped that cart from certain doom. He then helped pick up the fallen flowers and proceeded to load her car up for her.
We donโ€™t have pictures as it didnโ€™t feel appropriate buuuut we will see a ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ๐Ÿผ tumbler gets dropped off for you later this week.
Kindness still exists. Just got to look for it.

Strong storms are entering Fulton County around the Smithfield/Marietta area. This line of storms is on a weakening trend because, obviously the force isnโ€™t strong with this one.
We may see pea size hail and gusty winds. So far thereโ€™s not been any reports out of McDonough of any severe weather events.
Residents are encouraged to monitor NOAA all hazard alert radios.

Just FYI we are seeing some additional strong storms develop west of the Mississippi river. Those storms could maybe intensify and propagate additional warnings later this evening.
T-Storm warning for extreme north Fulton County (Avon, London Mills) until 8:00 PM.

The NWS has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Fulton County until 8:00 PM.
The warning is for 1" or larger hail and damaging winds.
The main areas for the warning would be:
- Avon
- London Mills
The warning box actually spins the very NE corner/northern edge of Fulton County.
Likely for the storm to reach Fulton County right around 7:45 - 8:00 PM. Also likely to see that warning pushed further east, maybe a skosh south. Residents around Fairview, Farmington, Middlegrove, should be alert for more warnings.
Please monitor NOAA All Hazard Alert Radios for any urgent weather alerts or warnings.
