Clerk Siegrist facilitated today’s Legislative Process session at the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks (MAMC) Institute.

As Canton Township Clerk, First Vice President of MAMC, and Co-Chair of the Council of Election Officials, it’s always inspiring to work with colleagues who care deeply about the future of election administration in Michigan.

During the session they provided a legislative update on bills we are currently tracking and discussed how proposed changes could impact voters and municipal governments across the state. They also walked through the basics of how a bill becomes a law and encouraged clerks to embrace their role as community leaders and citizen lobbyists in support of effective, secure election administration.

One of the most powerful moments of the day came during the grassroots advocacy training. More than 100 clerks contacted their legislators to emphasize the importance of supporting the Governor’s proposed $42 million budget provision to fund the statewide rollout of next-generation tabulators that meet VVSG 2.0 standards.

Clerks are on the front lines of democracy every day. When they share our expertise with policymakers, they help ensure that Michigan’s election infrastructure remains secure, modern, and accessible for every voter.

📬 Voter Information Card Update – Please Read 🗳️

The Canton Township Clerk’s Office wants to let voters know that you may have already received or will be receiving shortly an updated Voter Information Card in the mail. This is because your polling location may have changed.

🔍 How to confirm your polling place:
Your current voting location is listed inside the pink box on the card. Please review it carefully to make sure you know where to vote.

✅ Important reminders:
• You do not need to do anything with this card.
• The card is not required to vote in either the August or November elections this year.
• If you are on the Automatic Ballot List, you will receive an absentee ballot automatically, just like every other election.

📮 Mail for a former resident?
If a voter information card arrives for someone who no longer lives at your address, please write “Return to Sender” on the card and place it back in the mail. This allows our office to flag the voter registration and begin the process of removal in accordance with federal law.

ℹ️ More information coming soon:
Additional details about polling location changes and updated precinct boundaries will be shared as we get closer to Election Day.

As always, thank you for helping us keep our voter records accurate and for participating in our elections!
