Canton is excited to launch the Downtown Entertainment District, creating a new way for residents and visitors to enjoy downtown during designated events and approved dates and times.
When the district is activated, patrons may purchase an alcoholic beverage from a participating business and carry it within the designated Entertainment District in an approved container.
But this is not a “free-for-all.” The Downtown Entertainment District has specific rules and requirements in place to help ensure the program is safe, responsible, and enjoyable for everyone.

Customers must:
• Be 21 or older
• Wear an approved Entertainment District wristband
• Carry only one alcoholic beverage at a time
• Use an approved can or plastic cup no larger than 16 ounces
• Keep beverages within the designated district boundaries
• Purchase your beverage from a participating business

Glass containers, outside alcohol, and open beverages outside the designated boundaries are not permitted. Alcohol may also not be consumed on streets, in parking lots, parks, or green spaces unless specifically approved as part of an activated special event.
Our downtown businesses and the City of Canton are working together to make this program successful. Participating establishments will help monitor and enforce the requirements within their businesses, while the City will provide oversight and support to help keep the district organized and properly regulated.
The Entertainment District will operate only during designated events and on approved dates and times. When it is not activated, normal City ordinances and liquor laws remain in effect.

City officials are asking Canton residents to place all of their flood-related items on the terrace. The City will waive all bulk item fees for these items until further notice.

Residents are asked to place inside flood items in a separate pile from yard waste, as they require separate trucks. Please cut and roll up any carpeting for easier removal. City workers will still not be able to take appliances but residents may still place them on the terrace.

If you have a large number of flood debris and or items, please call the City of Canton’s Public Works Office tomorrow at 647-5022 and leave your address for more efficient pick up.

Also, residents are encouraged to record any damage with photographs and documents for any potential flood assistance that could be received in the future. Do not contact the City with that information at this time. If the City requires that information at a later date, an announcement will be posted on this page.
