Today is July 1 β€” the start of the deadliest month of the year for child vehicular heatstroke. Tragically, 9 kids have already died in hot cars in 2026.

Your car will reach deadly levels in minutes β€” especially during this dangerous heat dome. Cracked windows or shade will not prevent a tragedy.

Protect your family:
πŸ”΄ Put a stuffed animal in the front seat as a reminder to check the back.
πŸ”΄ Keep your car locked when you're not in it.
πŸ”΄ Once You Park. Stop. πŸ›‘ Look. πŸ‘οΈ Lock. πŸ”

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ A pair of climbers scaled the Empire State Building on July 1st to remind the residents of St. Lawrence County of one important message this Independence Day weekend...

As we celebrate the 250th Anniversary of our nation's founding, we encourage everyone to celebrate with enthusiasm, but also with responsibility.

If your plans include alcohol, make a plan to get home safely:
- Call a sober friend.
- Use a designated driver.
- Or... convince your mother-in-law to let you stay the night.

However you do it, make sure everyone gets home safely.

From all of us at the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, have a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July weekend.

God Bless America, and God bless St. Lawrence County. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
