With the school year starting, the buses are out on the road doing pickup and drop-off. For the kids and bus drivers' safety, STOP when you see the stop sign out. Stop at least 10 feet away and wait for the lights on the sign to stop.

It's the first football Friday of the season in Stark County.

We would like to wish all athletes in Stark County the best of luck this season.

As you take the field this season, don't forget the signs of a concussion. Concussions can occur whenever a child's mental status changes as a result of trauma (usually a blow to the head).

Signs observed by parents:
Appears dazed or stunned
Is confused about events
Answers questions slowly
Repeats questions
Can't recall events after the hit, bump or fall
Loses consciousness (even briefly)
Shows behavior or personality changes
Forgets an instruction or assignment

Symptoms reported by teens
Headache or "pressure" in head
Nausea or vomiting
Balance problems or dizziness
Blurry or double vision
Sensitivity to light or noise
Feeling sluggish, hazy, foggy or groggy
Difficulty concentrating or remembering
Just not "feeling right" or "feeling down"
