Canton Fire Department Responds to Commercial Fire
Canton, OH — June 1, 2026 — At approximately 8:21 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026, the Canton Fire
Department responded to a reported structure fire at 519 Hartung Place NE.
Upon arrival, fire crews encountered heavy smoke and flames extending from an attached shed into the
interior of a one-story, unoccupied commercial building. Firefighters acted quickly to contain and extinguish
the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.
Due to the extent of the damage and the building’s pre-existing condition of disrepair, the structure will be
demolished.
There were no civilian injuries reported. One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local
hospital for evaluation and treatment.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
