Last week, United Alliance joined over 150 companies at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy at the spring career fair. The event allowed prospective students to discover career paths and opportunities available at our company. United Alliance has a long-standing history with Mass Maritime Academy, as many of our team members have graduated from there.

With Spring Break approaching, so too, has the concern for the BA.2 the new dominant COVID variant. Some Black Friday Safety Tips.

Shopping:

• Try to avoid carrying large amounts of cash - but if you must, keep it as concealed as possible.
• Don’t leave your purse or wallet in your cart, and, if you wear it on your shoulder, don’t leave it open.
• Be aware of your surroundings. There are various distractions that give people with no holiday spirit opportunities to take what doesn't belong to them.
• Load management. Try not to carry multiple packages at once. Use will call, carts, and curbside package pickup service whenever possible.
• Lastly, it can get hectic out there. Make sure your family/friends know what your plans are, and keep an open line of communication throughout the day.

Some simple and quick fire safety tips to keep in mind when preparing your Thanksgiving meal.

-Be sure that you have a smoke detector in the kitchen area and press the “test button” to be sure the batteries are working properly. If you don’t remember the last time you changed the batteries, do yourself a favor and change them now.
- When you are simmering on the cooktop or baking, broiling or roasting in the oven, use a timer.
- If you are using a deep fryer please keep the fryer a safe distance from the house.
- Be sure that your potholders and wraps are a safe distance from the cooktop.
- Watch your sleeves and clothing when cooking.
- Extinguish all candles at the end of the day.

And lastly, to all our family, friends, clients and those we have yet to meet, we wish you a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
