🌟 Big News 🌟

We are thrilled to share that Alex and Kathy, DEHS Social Workers have officially trained to become certified Dementia Champions through Dementia Friends Massachusetts!

Why does this matter for Canton? According to the Massachusetts Healthy Aging Collaborative, 16.5% of older adults in our community are known to have dementia. In a town of over 25,000 neighbors, that means thousands of families, caregivers, and individuals are navigating this journey right now on our streets and in our shops.

Our goal is simple: We want to make Canton a fully Dementia Friendly community—where everyone feels safe, understood, and included.

Creating a Dementia Friendly Canton has been a priority for our department, and we're proud to be taking these important next steps.

Over the coming months, our new Champions will be hosting free, 1-hour Dementia Friends sessions for local businesses, first responders, neighbors, and civic groups. You'll learn simple, everyday actions that can make a meaningful difference for someone living with dementia.

In addition, all DEHS staff will be receiving Dementia Friendly training so that our entire team is better equipped to support residents and families affected by dementia with understanding, compassion, and confidence.

👉 Drop a comment or call us at 781-828-1323 to request a session for your local business, neighborhood group, or organization!
