The Ohio EPA has issued an Air Quality Alert for the State of Ohio due to elevated concentrations of fine particulate matter from Canadian wildfire smoke. Air quality in Canton has now reached the "Hazardous" category (AQI 390), the highest level of the Air Quality Index, meaning everyone may experience serious health effects.
Please take the following precautions:
- Avoid all outdoor activities whenever possible.
- Stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed.
-Use an air purifier if one is available.
-Stay well hydrated.
-Bring pets indoors and keep them safe whenever possible.
-Monitor yourself and others for symptoms such as coughing, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, wheezing, dizziness, or worsening of existing heart or lung conditions.
If your job requires outdoor work, supervisors should evaluate whether activities can be postponed, modified, or moved indoors until air quality improves.
We encourage everyone to monitor the latest Air Quality Index (AQI) at www.AirNow.gov.
