Head Start families and partners:
I know there is a lot of news in the media about some Head Start programs having to close due to the government shutdown. Please know that the programs facing closure renew their grant November 1st and we have a May 1st grant so we are not currently affected by the shutdown. Our Head Start doors will remain open.
There are 7 Head Start programs in Ohio facing the reality of having to close their doors to almost 4,000 children and staff on Monday. Also, with the threat of SNAP benefits please reach out to your Family Service Specialist if you are in need of assistance.
Have a great weekend!

SCCAA Head Start family -
As you may have already heard, the Federal government shut down this morning. I want to assure everyone that the Head Start program is not currently affected by the shutdown. We are able to access our funding and are able to operate without interruption. Our doors are open and it is business as usual for our children, families, and staff. It is our hope that our legislators can come to an agreement soon. I urge you to contact your representatives in Washington to ask them to pass a budget.

According to the calendar, fall is now here! Now we await the temperatures to change and the outside scenery to fully make its shift. From visiting the apple orchards and pumpkin patches, to watching football and jumping in leaves, to embracing the cooler mornings and evenings, the shift in seasons always has us reflecting on the past season and embracing what's to come. September is Attendance Awareness Month.
Establishing good early attendance habits supports children’s learning and leads to success in school and in life. Head Start programs have the opportunity to improve attendance rates and support children’s future success by assisting families in creating attendance patterns that continue into the early elementary school years.
Programs can find resources to support families in maintaining attendance at https://loom.ly/CR99FnI

Read a book today!

Today is National Read a Book Day!
The day invites us ALL to grab a book we might enjoy and spend some time reading. Don't keep it to yourself.
Share the experience! Read aloud either to your children or children to grandparents.
Read to your pets or to your stuffed animals!

What better way to encourage reading for children then to sign them up for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio, where each month until the age of 5 they receive their own free, high-quality book in the mail!
To sign up your child visit https://loom.ly/6V_YDK8
