In an effort to STOP HB 512, we are participating with the Stop group in a Twitter campaign to give Ohio legislators the message. ‼️‼️‼️Call to Action!‼️‼️‼️

We're starting a Twitter campaign and we need volunteers!

Our goal is to facilitate a steady stream of opposition to the members of the GAO committee. Please click the link below and sign up for a 1 hour time slot in the next 2 weeks. After 2 weeks we will reevaluate. You are welcome to sign up for more than 1 and we encourage you to tweet anytime you feel like it, but during your time slot we request that you post between 1-3 tweets and tag the following Twitter handles:

Unfortunate to we Ohioans, Cliff Rosenberger was elected as the next Speaker of the House in Ohio. From everything I know, this is not good for those of us fighting Common Core Standards, even though he put his name as a co-signer on HB 237. I have been told he will not move the issue. As a reminder, when you vote today, Check your voting machine and review your summary of candidates before backing away from the machine. Only diligent and careful voters will be aware that machines can be misprogrammed and catch it!

District 2: Kathleen McGervey. Kathleen has been a blessing to have on the SBE since the 2010 election, when OEF first endorsed her and assisted in her campaign. She is in full support of repealing Common Core Standards and supporting parents to freely home educate their children as they see fit. She will be running against a BIG name in Ohio politics, Please vote for her!

District 3: Mary Pritchard is the candidate we are endorsing and supporting in the district where progressive liberal Larry Mims, Jr. vacated the seat in January. Even though OEF endorsed a candidate in 2010 in this district, Mims won the seat and was an antagonist to home schooling over the last three years. OEF vowed to attempt to win the seat back but that will not happen unless we work for Mary. Even though there is another candidate in District 3 that opposes Common Core Standards, we have endorsed Mary Pritchard. She needs a ton of help to overcome Democrat A.J. Wagner, who was just appointed by Gov. Kasich and is a huge name in the area. Mary Pritchard is our best opportunity to unseat this person. She is up against Goliath.She is with the Butler County Educational Service Center as board President. She is completely for repealing Common Core Standards and for home schooling! District 4: Zachary Haines is our choice candidate to replace Debe Terhar. Initially, OEF was concerned about this district, but Zach has fully alleviated our concerns. District 5: Chris Sawicki. Chris actually ran for state rep in the spring primary and didn't make it. However, in a conversation just over a month ago by a select few, Chris was encouraged to run for this seat. We fully endorsed Chris in his run earlier in the year and we happily endorse him again for SBE 5. Introduction of new repeal legislation that builds upon Sub HB237 and incorporates solutions to address the complexities of repeal experienced by other states

Assignment of the legislation to the Rules and Reference Committee, under the direction of Chairman, Rep. Matt Huffman

Sponsor and first round of supporting testimony planned for August 12th

Supporting testimony continues the week of August 18th

An expeditious path to bring the legislation to the House Floor for a vote

We were waiting to see what we would be able to do after the CHEO Convention was over. Ohioans for Educational Freedom has depleted its funds and will prepare to shut down the web site at some future date if no more funds come in to sustain us.

We have to pay our bills. We have asked for the support of our constituents and we have received very little in the way of donations. If you are still interested in keeping the OEF website open, you may donate at http://ohioansforfreedom.com and click the big red button.

We will still attempt to assist all State Board of Education races in Districts 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 10. Also, there are state House races we will be assisting with.
