Every day, GiGi’s Playhouse changes lives by providing free, life-changing therapeutic, educational and career training programs for individuals of all ages.

Happy Birthday, Maddie!

Help us wish a very happy birthday to our Program & Volunteer Coordinator, Maddie! 🥳We're so excited to have her on the GiGi's Playhouse Canton team and to celebrate with her today!

Maddie plays a BIG role in helping our programs run smoothly, supporting our amazing volunteers, and making sure our Playhouse community has the connections and resources they need to thrive. We're already so grateful for the energy, kindness, and enthusiasm she brings to the Playhouse!

Everyone deserves to be heard.

While individuals with Down syndrome face obstacles when it comes to speech and communication, The Amina Grace One-on-One Speech & Language Program at GiGi’s Playhouse is helping them find their voice.

This free program provides personalized, professional support to help individuals with Down syndrome improve speech clarity, enunciation, and comprehension.

Serving youth, teens, and adults, this program creates space for participants to grow their communication skills in a way that’s tailored to how they learn best, helping them thrive in
school, at work, and in everyday life.
..And like all GiGi's programs, it's 100% FREE!

We are so grateful to partners from Kent State University and The University of Akron for partnering with us since 2022 to offer this program at no cost to families, and to the Amina Grace Memorial Fund for providing the support to make this possible.

✨ VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT ✨

This volunteer spotlight is very well deserved and coming personally from our Site Director, Megan. Jessi, if you're reading this...surprise!

We are so grateful for Jessi and the countless ways she continues to show up for GiGi's Playhouse Canton! Her involvement at the Playhouse started shortly after our grand opening in 2019. Since then, Jessi has continued to give her time and talents in so many ways, including (but certainly not limited to) being our volunteer Volunteer Coordinator, serving as our Board Vice President, chairing the GiGi's Playhouse 5K: Dash for Down Syndrome, stepping in as a literacy tutor when needed, and spending countless hours at the Playhouse this summer while I was on maternity leave to make sure everything continued to run smoothly in my absence.

This is just a short summary that doesn't do all of Jessi's dedication justice. Jessi, I am incredibly grateful for the time, energy, leadership, and heart you continue to pour into GiGi's Playhouse. You are the kind of volunteer who makes an enormous difference without ever asking for recognition, which is exactly why we're making sure you get some!

Remember our friend Maggie? When she hosted her lemonade stand a few weeks ago, she raised over $700 for our Playhouse! We are so inspired by her kindness and generosity - it's not every day a 7 year old gets up and decides to donate 100% of what they earn to a cause they care about. We loved inviting Maggie and her family to the Playhouse to see what she chose to support, but even more we love knowing there are such kind people out there. Thank you again, Maggie, for having such a big heart at such a young age.

The Fall 2026 session of our GiGi's Kitchen programs starts the week of September 29, 2026 - December 19, 2026.

Teen (recommended 13-17 years): Tuesdays at 5:30pm

Adult (18+): Wednesdays at 5:30pm

Deadline to apply for group programs is Sunday, September 13, 2026. Completion of an application does not guarantee a spot in the program.

We had the pleasure of having our friend Lauren join us this summer for our GiGi's Kitchen program at GiGi's Playhouse Canton. While she was visiting Ohio, she became part of our Playhouse family and we are so grateful for the smiles, friendships, laughter, and memories she brought with her.

Now, it's time for Lauren to head back home to Tennessee, and while we're sad to say so long, we know this isn't goodbye! We hope Lauren will connect with GiGi's Playhouse Nashville and continue finding community, friendship, and opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive back home. Lauren, thank you for spending your summer with us! We'll miss you and will be cheering you on from Canton.

✨ BEST OF ALL ✨

We're celebrating Adonis for his continued growth and enthusiasm in GiGi's Kitchen! After years of participating in the program, his love for GiGi's Kitchen hasn't wavered, and each week he shows up ready to learn, connect, and try something new.

Adonis has made incredible strides in expanding his palate, most recently impressing even his mom by trying hummus and vegetable wraps! His courage, curiosity, and joy truly embody his "Best of All."

One by one, they prove the doubters wrong.

In this video from she rounds up story after story: Sofia Jirau walking as one of the first models with Down syndrome for Victoria's Secret, Karen Gaffney collecting a college degree and an honorary doctorate, Joao Vitor becoming the first in his class to graduate in Physical Education, Maria Julia strutting a runway as a Forbes Under 30 honoree, and Mary Borman training for her next triathlon.

This is what happens when the world stops deciding what's possible for someone before they've even had the chance to try. At GiGi's Playhouse, we build programs around exactly that belief — that every person deserves the room to reach for whatever they're reaching for.
